Producer Tour FAQ’s
Do you pick us up from our accommodation?
Absolutely, that's all part of the service. Just let us know during the booking process or when the information comes to hand
Will it be a big tour?
Our Producers Tour is Semi-Private and has a maximum of two couples. Most tours are only for one couple (private), giving you your very own guide and vehicle for the day. During the busy season, you will be sharing the car with a maximum of one other couple similarly visiting Hawke's Bay.
Can we go to Craggy Range for Lunch?
Yes, absolutely (availability dependent). We have provided the option of adding 2 hours to the tour to accommodate a Winery Lunch. We have also given you the option for your convenience of prepaying for a Craggy Range Set Menu (view their website for menu). However, it works out cheaper if guests pay the winery directly on the day.
Can we vary the itinerary?
The itinerary is very flexible and may be changed either at the guests' request or by us, due to the producer's availability. If we make changes, a comparable alternative will be arranged to ensure you still have a memorable day out in Hawke's Bay. During the summer season, additional producers become available, so we will add in some hidden gems to give you the very best day out.
Will you visit the Hawke's Bay Farmers Market?
On Sunday, all Hawke's Bay Producers (and then some) personally host stalls at the Hawke's Bay Farmers Market. We begin our tour at this local institution, tasting our way across the bay. We will additionally include a private hosted tasting of Arataki Honey to give you the complete picture of local producers.
What happens if it's raining?
Hawke's Bay has a generally settled and sheltered climate with the highest sunlight hours in the country. However, occasionally it does rain (it recharges our soils). Tours proceed rain or shine as the majority is undercover. We will supply umbrellas, and suggest guests bring suitable clothing and footwear to be comfortable.
I'm on a cruise ship. Can you change the times to match the arrival and departure schedules? Can we still book the tour?
Yes, we absolutely can. Since this tour is very exclusive, please let us know your boat and date, and we will adjust the timing accordingly. We suggest you book the 10 am tour on the date of arrival, and then we will change the tour start time to match. Note that we can not pick up guests from the ship's side unless there are seven booked. As such, guests will catch the shuttle to Napier, and we will meet them when they exit the shuttle. Please allow 45-60 minutes from ship berthing to when you will be in Napier.
